The fields of education and technology are intrinsically intertwined with one another. From Gutenberg to EdTech 

When the term “education” is used in its broadest sense, it refers to the process of growing a person and passing on to him information that was accumulated by earlier generations. For a considerable amount of time, it was quite difficult to acquire this knowledge. This is due to a lack of acceptable technology being available on the market. It was impossible to make books because of both the financial investment and the amount of time needed, despite books being the major reservoir of information throughout history. There aren’t many individuals who could afford such a lavish lifestyle. Johann Gutenberg, a German artisan, invented the printing press in the middle of the 15th century, which catalyzed a sea change in how people communicated and shared information. Because the process of producing books has become considerably more productive and cost-effective, more individuals than ever before have access to educational opportunities and more knowledge. Consequently, the pandemic has also hastened the use of digital technology in education.  

Artificial intelligence – the new teacher? 

The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education published a study titled “Changing the speed of learning” in 2017. This report explored the various ways in which artificial intelligence (AI) may be included in the learning process. As a consequence of this, the author’s researchers assert that attending school for the purpose of acquiring knowledge is no longer a primary concern in modern culture. Teaching kids how to use a computer is not nearly as crucial as developing their ability to work successfully in groups, both digitally and analytically, and to convey their ideas clearly. In this scenario, the instructor is required to collect, evaluate, and process a significant amount of data to arrive at an accurate assessment of the aforementioned skills possessed by his students. A human person is incapable of keeping up with such an enormous volume of knowledge, but artificial intelligence can assist in this regard. 

School and metauniverses

In total, there were 27 million people who had never been there before who attended the performance. As a direct consequence of this, Fortnite has developed into a platform where users are free to communicate with one another and create new activities. 

In the end, though, this is all appropriate for use in the entertainment industry. Mark Zuckerberg intends to use the metauniverse in a practical way. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the “Facebook metauniverse” in July this year. In the next five years, the social network will be transformed into an online environment where individuals may engage with each other remotely, but with the impression of being present, thanks to augmented and virtual reality. The “infinite office” was one of the most important concepts in Zuckerberg’s metauniverse – constructing a perfect work environment utilizing virtual reality capabilities. Using avatars, he and his supervisors conducted online negotiations as part of the technology he demonstrated.  

In the sphere of education, the metauniverse, which combines our actual and virtual worlds, will open instructors up to limitless options to make learning as engaging and entertaining as possible. Instead of just lecturing on Rome’s past, the instructor may take his students on a virtual tour of the city’s streets at life size. At the volcano, teachers may show any experiment and explain physical principles in action, while geographers can take their pupils right up close and personal to a raging volcano.
